In our day-to-day lives there’s about a million and one things we (can) worry about, and there’s about a million and one things that God is constantly reminding us NOT to worry about. The command “fear not” is given numerous times throughout the bible, I’ve read the stories, wrote the verses in my journal yet when a situation arrises in my life that is scary I’m suddenly plagued with anxiety, fear and worry!

As a mom I’ve often come up with excuses why it’s ok for me to worry, I’ll say things like “I’m their mother it’s my job to worry” or when faced with a challenging decision or going through a difficult phase in life I might say to myself that “I’m not worrying, I’m just considering all the terrible possibilities that could happen” We have all been there, we let worry or fear creep its way into our life, steal our joy, waste our valuable time and consume our every thought.

It’s so silly of us to let the fear of something that hasn’t even happened steal the joy that we could be experiencing right here, right now in the present moment. How many times have you said “oh once (random week day) is over I’ll be happy”, or “once I know what the results are I can relax.” How much time did you waste in between? Guaranteed if you are anything like me it has been a lot!

Ponder this: Jesus knew what was going to happen to him, he knew he would be betrayed and die an excruciating death. Did he sit dwelling in fear? NO!!! He got his people loving butt out there and made nations bow to Him, he walked on water, healed the blind, cured the sick, loved the broken and died for you and me. Not so that we would spend our lives worrying about what was to come, but so that we could lIVE for him! Spending our days in fear isn’t living, its waiting for death. What kind of life is that???

Isaiah 41:13-14 ” For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you, declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel”

I could post MANY verses about fear, but I only have nap time to write so I encourage you too take a look yourself and break the bondage that fear, worry and anxiety have over your life! Let 2019 be the year you live fearlessly!!!
