As a mom I have weeks when I feel like I’m totally killing it, no not my kids! I mean like killing it as a mom. I’m doing awesome my kids are perfect angels, my house is clean and organized and every night there’s a delicious Pintrest perfect meal on the table.
Than I have weeks when my kids are total barbarians, they are trashing my house, I can’t keep up and dinner is spaggettie….again. It’s those weeks when I’m like Lord; you did not equip me with the correct tools for this job! You sent me in for war with only a pair of yoga pants on as my defence!!!
It’s those weeks that its REALLY easy for me to make myself feel inadequate. Like I’m not patient enough, caring enough, good enough. I start to wonder what on earth God could possibly use a not so perfect mother for? I’ve made SO many mistakes, I’ve lost my temper, behaved immaturely, lied, drank, ….you get the idea! I’m not nor have I ever been perfect, yet God loves me! God chose me!
“How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings” Psalm 36:7
Throughout the bible we learn of mothers God used for his works, 3 were brought to my attention in the book ” The Confident Mom” by Joyce Meyer. Sarah, Rahab and Bathsheba, long story short, liar, prostitute, adulterer just to name a few of their mistakes. But, our merciful Lord forgave all their mistakes and seen qualites in them that no one else probably did. The Holy Spirit worked in each one of these ladies to clean them from the inside out. Just like he’s done (and is still doing) with me! Every single one of these women went on to accomplish fantastic things and they all started out broken, they had bad days but they remained confident in Gods unfailing love for them.
Turns out God did equip me with the right tools I need to make it through the trials of motherhood, he gave me His forgiveness, unfailing love and grace.
Today I will hold me head high, put on clean yoga pants and be confident that the Holy Spirit is changing me everyday to fit into God’s image of me.
I will do great things through Christ who gives me strength!
