Once again time has slipped by and I haven’t written in a while. We are all moved into our new home in Iowa. It’s so weird having Zach home every night for dinner, I am so happy to finally have the family time together that I have wanted for so many years.
About two weeks ago I was on Pinterest OH how I LOVE Pinterest, I was looking for some dinner ideas for the week (since I actually get to cook full on meals now) and I came across this post about different prayers to pray over your family for 1 month. It caught my attention so I started reading. The writer’s prayers were beautifully written and as I was going along I thought to myself “dang when I pray I don’t even use a fourth of these fancy words she’s using” and it’s amazing how quickly your mind takes control of your heart if you allow it and boy I sure let it! Suddenly I felt like I had been praying wrong my whole life and now I’m teaching my daughter to pray wrong and oh my gosh my life is in shambles and on and on and on.
This went on for a good half hour until I got this great idea on how to fix it. I would just start praying like the writer of the Pinterest post. OK here it goes “OH heavenly Father art be thou name thy come to the with a questioning of the God who be in heaven who loves the…fancy word…..fancy word….fancy word….I’m sure you have all read or heard prayers like this. There is nothing wrong with these prayers as long as they are coming from the heart of the person saying them. However this new way of praying was not coming from my heart it was coming from google and I had no clue what I was really saying. I was sitting on my couch feeling frustrated with myself and out of nowhere that still small voice came into my heart and said ” have your prayers been answered?” Well heck yeah they have been! God put that 5 word question on my heart and suddenly all of my worries were washed away, just like that!!
Throughout the bible we read about these amazing miracles that God performs and each one is done with very few words spoken from him. When Jesus raises the girl from the dead in Luke 8:54 he simply says “My child, get up!” that’s it! 4 LITTLE WORDS BROUGHT A CHILD BACK FROM THE DEAD! The question God put on my heart taught me that it doesn’t matter how I pray just as long as it comes from my heart. The Pinterest lady prays fancy worded prayers and that’s ok because that’s what works for her. Me on the other hand I pray to God like I am talking to a friend I don’t use fancy wording I just talk but it’s coming from my heart and that’s all that matters and I know it works because God has answered an overwhelming amount of my prayers.
So friends go to God and pray to Him in a way that works for you. Weather its fancy wording, long, short, singing or in spanish it doesn’t matter just go to him and pray!
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
