It’s been far too long since my last post. A lot has been happening in my life and it has taken me away from something that really calms me down…writing…well I’m back baby!!!
Let’s catch up.I’m happy to tell you that I have started my first big girl job as a medical assistant! Yay me! This friday I graduate with my associates degree and I was chosen to give the student speech at graduation! My family and I also had a huge blessing come our way and we were able to take a 9 day road trip to California! It has always been a dream of mine and it was amazing to carry it out with my loves.
Of course in all these amazing things happening real life still manages to creep it’s way in. For instance 3 days into our trip we drove through Utah, if you have ever drove through Utah you know two things. One it’s one of the most beautiful states ever, Two you drive like 350 miles without seeing a single town! We had planned on stopping our drive that evening around 5pm. We started calling hotels around 3pm with NO luck. Zach finally booked us a room after calling no lie 15 hotels! it was in St. George Utah almost 2 hours from where we were…we finally arrived at 8:30pm to find that we were staying in one of the most beautiful towns we stayed at during our trip. We enjoyed our evening together and went to sleep. The next morning we woke up; Rylee was excited about the day’s adventure. I turned on the lights and looked over at her (insert extremely shocked face here) her head was HUGE!! Like wholey crap she looked like Baby Huey! Her eyes were so swollen you could have blindfolded her with a piece of dental floss. We started searching for the nearest hospital and found a walk-in clinic that was open on Sundays! We were the first ones at the doors when they unlocked them and were greeted by the most friendly hospital staff I’d ever met. They ran some test and it turned out to be a case of strep that had been going on for a while hence the swollen head! While chatting with the doctor we told her of our previous days adventure and what town we had originally planned on staying in. She informed us that town was almost 3 hours from the hospital! She then told us that by 11am there is a 3 hour wait to see the doctor!! Our hotel was only 5 minutes from the clinic so we were able to be one of the first people to see the doctor.
I immediately thanked God for watching out for us. If we would have gotten a hotel in any other town we would have lost a whole day of our trip sitting at the doctor’s office. And Rylee would have been miserable. Kinda hard to take in the beautiful views when your eyes are swollen shut.
Many times I have been guilty of not giving God thanks where He deserves it. However I have learned that I need to continue to thank God in the good and in the bad. We often only come to him when we need something but how often do we stop and thank him for that blessing when received? I mean truly thank him not; “oh hey God thanks for answering my prayer you rock amen”I’m talking actually stopping and taking the time to say thank you from the depths of your heart. Doesn’t our God who stands before us deserve more than just a thanks dude?
” What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday?”
Really think about this, yesterday did you thank God for things or just ask him for things? I encourage you all to do this with me, today when you have just a few quiet minutes to yourself even if you have to pretend you’re going number two to get away from the kids 😉 take that time to simply thank God for the love and grace he pours out to us daily. Don’t ask Him for anything just thank Him in all His glory.
When we take the time to notice His presence in our daily lives I think we will be amazed at just how blessed we truly are. Don’t skip out on an opportunity to thank Him, he wouldn’t skip out on a blessing for us.
